Indonesia's Economy Grows 5.29% in Q2 2026, 5.45% for the First Half
As reported by Indonesian business daily Kontan, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) announced on 5 August 2026 that the economy expanded 5.29% year on year in the second quarter of 2026. That is slower than the 5.61% recorded in the first quarter, but growth remains firmly above 5%.
GDP at current prices reached Rp6,552.1 trillion in the quarter, up from Rp5,947.5 trillion a year earlier. At constant prices it stood at Rp3,576.2 trillion, compared with Rp3,396.6 trillion in the second quarter of 2025.
Quarter on quarter, the economy grew 3.73%. Cumulative growth for the first half of 2026 came in at 5.45%. The figures were presented by M. Edy Mahmud, BPS Deputy for Balance and Statistical Analysis.
For investors considering Indonesia, growth that holds steadily above 5% points to a predictable domestic market and operating environment — one of the fundamentals that continues to draw foreign capital to the country.
